The Academy Awards are a major headache for Netflix.

The most significant change is the theatrical exhibition having a minimum of seven days in ten of the fifty markets in the United States.

Several modifications to the rules that will govern the 97th Academy Awards, which will take place the following year, have been disclosed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. There are some of them that go back to the rules that existed before COVID, which were required in order to qualify for the most essential categories. Concerns? Under the condition that the qualifying requirements for both categories are satisfied, animated feature films that have been submitted in the International Feature Film category are eligible to be considered for the General Animated Feature Film category. In order to be eligible for submission in the Screenplay categories, a final shooting screenplay will now be required.

It is very evident that the purpose of these regulations is to invigorate the film exhibition industry, which has experienced a decline in recent years, and to take some of the power away from Netflix and other streaming services.
